Our Garden

My husband and I tried to make our garden in yard. We bought these woods at Law's. Making our garden step by step!

( Mar 19, 2011 )

1, Making the outer frame
( Mar 19, 2011 )

Set up the garden frame.

We made a first garden. It looks like a coffin when he lies down in it.

It also looks like a covered wagon. :) These white poles are used for making a greenhouse and blocking a lot of rains.

We will make more!

We have finished to make 2 of long and short coffins... I mean gardens.

2, Burying  legged stool in the ground.
( April 4, 2011 )

Sakura helped papa to dig the ground.

It's fun!!

・● 10 minutes later... ●・

I'm tired.

( April 7, 2011 )
It finished to bury the legged stools.

Most difficult thing is making straight the wood frame for the ground.

3, Raise the plans

( From the beginning of March, 2011 )

We raised many kinds of vegetable plants from seeds. There are four kinds of tomatoes, egg plants, cucumber,  lettuce, pees, carrot, Japanese radish and flower.

( Apr 14, 2011 )
The plants are lush and big!

It's time to plant these plants in the garden.

There plants are waiting for planting in the new bed.

My husband checked the plant's health.

4, Plant the plants
( April 15, 2011 )

It's new bed for plants.

( May 5, 2011 )
We put dawn the black plastic for heat the ground to grow plants fast.

We finally finished making our garden!! We are looking forward to the vegetable growing! :)

5, Harvest the crops
( Jun 5, 2011 )

According to the gardening book, we need to pick up the vegetable when plants began to grow up even small for keeping the growing power.

( July 2, 2011 )
We harvest cucumber and egg plants. The total amount vegetable is cucumber is 6kg, egg plants are     2.6kg, lettuce is many that we can eat every day a month.

( Jul 6, 2011)
We made 8 canned dill pickles and two canned Japanese pickles. Three weeks later, we can eat the dill pickles. I want to eat soon!

I didn't know you guys made those plant beds in your backyard. I thought they were already there when you moved in. Great job! I love fresh veggies from a garden. I don't have a yard so I only have a tomato plant, a cherry tomato plant, a basil plant, and a cilantro plant each in a pot. So far my basil is great, the tomatoes are still growing. I would love to try your dill pickles...I love dill pickles.
